NHD Georgia Essentials Workshop for Teachers

Dr. Kevin Shirley is professor of History, chair of Humanities and Social Sciences at LaGrange College, and co coordinator of NHD Georgia.  He oversees LaGrange College's role as primary education/mentoring provider to NHD Georgia.

Jess Alden is program coordinator for Georgia Humanities, and co coordinator of NHD Georgia.  Jess manages NHD Georgia's regions, contests, and special awards programming.  She also facilitates collaborative initiatives among many of Georgia's historical and cultural organizations.

All teachers are welcome.

Participating teachers can bring their own laptop/tablet to the workshop.  Please note that laptops will be available for check out.  If you teach at a school with access to GALILEO, please have your school login/password with you as we will be using that resource extensively.  We will provide each participating teacher with an LC account they can use for more extensive access to Galileo during the 23-24 school year.  

The LaGrange College Lewis Library is the resource home to NHDGA Teacher Workshops.  One of the finest small college libraries in the South, it is home to an impressive research collection of both print and online resources and benefits from  a dedicated staff ready to assist workshop attendees. While all workshop sessions will be online, we will still have access to the library's online collection should a research question arise.  

The registration fee for the NHDGeorgia 2023 mini-workshop is $25.00 per person. Upon completion of the registration form please pay using a credit/debit card by using the online payment link found HERE. You may also pay upon arrival for the workshop.

Unfortunately, on campus housing is not available for the 2024 workshop.  There are, however, a number of local hotels that traditionally offer special rates/discounts for LaGrange College events.  You can find a list of local hotels HERE.  Please call the LOCAL number and mention that you are attending a LaGrange College workshop when making your reservation.

Participants will receive parking passes upon checkin.  

NB: Lunch will be provided to all participants both days.
