The Computer Science curriculum is commited to challenging the minds of its students and
providing opportunities for students to grow in their ability to communicate effectively, to
become critical thinkers, and to approach problems with creativity. The curriculum is also
commited to preparing students to become successful, responsible citizens who aspire to lives
of integrity and moral courage.
Student Learning Outcomes
Students getting a minor or B.S. in Computer Science should be able to demonstrate the
following:
1. An understanding of some of the key concepts in computer science.
2. Effective communication both in their writing and their oral skills.
3. Critical thought by analysis and synthesis of problems to find their solutions.
4. Creative thought using problem-solving techniques.
5. Career preparation related to their degree or graduate school
Major Requirements
Students completing the B.S. in Computer Science will complete the following:
Introductory Content (9 hours)
Fundamentals of the Discipline (18 hours)
Options - Must take 2 of the following (6 hours)
Capstones (6 hours)
