Dentistry

Pre-dental students at LC typically major in Biology or Chemistry to meet the pre-requisite courses for admission to dental school.  Many Biology majors minor in Chemistry or Biochemistry.  Our pre-dental students usually attend the Dental College of Georgia and University of Alabama-Birmingham after earning their undergraduate degree.  For more information about pre-requisite courses for dental school, refer to the LaGrange College bulletin for Pre-Dentistry and/or contact the chair of the pre-health advising team, Dr. Melinda Pomeroy-Black (mblack@lagrange.edu).

Engineering

As a pre-engineering student, you will complete two to three years at LaGrange College and then continue your studies at a school with an Engineering program like Georgia Tech, Auburn, or Kennesaw for another two to three years. You will earn an associate's degree in mathematics from LaGrange College along the way. Contact program advisor Dr. Stacey Ernstberger at sernstberger@lagrange.edu.

Law (J.D.)

The pre-law advising committee will help you get on the right track, meeting with you during your freshman year to guide you in the right direction. For more information, contact the program coordinator for political science, Dr. John Tures, at jtures@lagrange.edu.

Medicine (M.D. or D.O.)

Pre-med students at LC can major in many different of fields of study, as long as they meet the minimum science requirements for admission to medical school (MD or DO).  Several of our recent students have attended osteopathy school, which shares the same requirements as medical school.  Refer to the LaGrange College bulletin for more information about these course requirements (Pre-Medicine) and/or contact the chair of the pre-health advising team, Dr. Melinda Pomeroy-Black (mblack@lagrange.edu).

Pharmacy (D.Ph.)

Pre-pharmacy students at LC typically major in Biology or Chemistry to meet the pre-requisite courses for admission to pharmacy school.  Many Biology majors also minor in Chemistry or Biochemistry.  Our pre-pharmacy students usually attend the Harrision School of Pharmacy at Auburn, Mercer University Pharmacy School, and University of Georgia College of Pharmacy after earning their undergraduate degree at LC.  For more information about pre-requisite courses for pharmacy school, refer to the LaGrange College bulletin for Pre-Pharmacy and/or contact the chair of the pre-health advising team, Dr. Melinda Pomeroy-Black (mblack@lagrange.edu).

Physician Assistant (P.A.)

Most pre-Physician Assistant students at LC major in Biology in order to complete the courses required for admission to PA school.  All PA schools also require a significant number of hours of hands-on patient care that can be completed during semesters and over the summers. Physical Therapy (D.P.T.)

Completing an undergraduate degree in Biology or Exercise Science at LC opens the door to apply to a  Doctor of Physical Therapy program.  Many schools have pre-requisite courses that align with the Biology degree.  All PT schools require a significant number of shadowing/work/patient care hours that should be completed during semesters and over the summers.  For more information about pre-requisite courses for PA school, refer to the LaGrange College bulletin for Pre-Physical Therapy and/or contact the chair of the pre-health advising team, Dr. Melinda Pomeroy-Black (mblack@lagrange.edu).

Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.)
