Learning to Lead in a Complex World
In a world that moves fast, thoughtful leadership matters more than ever. At LaGrange College, Political Science majors don’t just study policy — they learn how to ask better questions, research with intention and serve their communities with purpose.
Research isn’t an afterthought here. It’s hands-on, real-world and often rooted in our close-knit network of servant-leadership partners. Students gather the information, analyze the data and present their findings themselves — building confidence, credibility and practical experience along the way.
The result? Graduates who are prepared for more. Many of our students present their work at state and national conferences, and some see their research published — stepping into professional spaces long before graduation.
At LaGrange, you’re more than a number. You’re a researcher, a leader and a story in the making.
Hands-On Learning
Political Science students at LaGrange College learn by doing. Students present research at the Georgia State Capitol through programs like Posters at the Capitol, engaging directly with elected officials from across the political spectrum and practicing respectful, bipartisan dialogue.
Experiential learning also includes Moot Court and Mock Trial competitions, where students develop legal argument and public speaking skills in real courtroom settings.
Civic Engagement & Mentorship
Service and leadership are central to the program. Students organize activities such as voter registration drives and participate in civic engagement projects that connect classroom learning with community impact.
Faculty regularly bring guest speakers to campus — including successful alumni working in law, government and public service — helping students explore career pathways and build professional connections.
Research & Recognition

LaGrange Political Science students contribute to real-world conversations through published newspaper columns, academic articles and conference presentations. Many students share their research at professional conferences and participate in advocacy experiences at the Georgia Capitol.
High-achieving students are inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society, where LaGrange’s chapter has earned multiple national awards.

Beyond Graduation
Graduates pursue careers in law, government, business, education and graduate study, with many continuing to serve their communities as leaders and mentors. Across the board, LaGrange College Political Science students compete successfully with peers from programs nationwide — a reflection of strong mentorship and personalized preparation.
