Engage the world

Modern Languages

The world continues to change and present challenges and opportunities for us all. LaGrange College is committed to preparing students for these changes by helping them understand other cultures and by promoting Global Engagement.

Spanish

More than 20 million people speak Spanish in the United States, making it the fifth largest Spanish-speaking country in the world. The Spanish major, the Spanish minor and the Latin American Studies minor (a combination of Spanish language and culture courses) are designed to provide students with a working proficiency of the language and a familiarity with the cultures in which it is spoken, including the 21 countries of Latin America, Spain and parts of Africa.

French

Why not minor in French and immerse yourself in the language of culture, art, music, fashion, cuisine and cinema? Artistic innovation, trend-setting fashion and culinary prowess are long-standing hallmarks of French culture. It’s the only language other than English spoken on five continents.
