Biography

Yson Lorane DeBlois studied film production at the University of Central Florida, earning her B.F.A. with Honors in 2014 and M.F.A. in Emerging Media – Digital Cinema in 2017. She has been involved in many aspects of experimental film for the last decade, including production, curation and programming, exhibition, and academic research and instruction. Her body of work includes experimental/documentary single channel and installation-based film and video pieces which traverse the topics of memory, womanhood, and corporeal existence. She’s served in various curatorial roles including selection committee member for the international, Oscar qualifying Florida Film Festival, and as co-director of Sunspot Cinema, an organization focused on bringing experimental film and video exhibitions and student/community involvement to the Orlando film and art scene. Yson’s technical specialty is in the camera department and she has worked professionally in the Orlando area on commercial, industrial, documentary, music video, and narrative productions.

Ms. DeBlois is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Digital Creative Media and Film at LaGrange College. Previously, she was a Broadcast Production Specialist and Lecturer in the Film Program at the University of Central Florida, teaching Cinematography and Experimental Cinema.
