Q: What’s one or two ways you think your LC experience helped prepare you for your career?

A: My experience at LC was such a magnificent experience. Specifically, for my career, the school gave me a very well-rounded experience. Being in the business department didn't just teach me how to pass Accounting and Economics. We had an etiquette class that I still use items I learned that helped prepare me for fancy business dinner events and fundraisers. The ability to problem-solve and work together with a team of people was always something that we did throughout my program. The professors I had are still my life-long friends. I learned the importance of networking, responsibility, and being able to be trustworthy.

Q: What’s one memory from your time at LC that still makes you smile?

A: Lifelong relationships. My roommate Andrea Walker and Leeanne Doonan were the greatest! Leeanne was here from Ireland for a year.  Andrea has dual citizenship, originally from England. I am all my life Georgia. The three of us would go out to eat, and people would flip out at the variations of all of our accents together!  We had a blast and made amazing memories. I still come to homecoming with Andrea and she was a bridesmaid at my wedding!

Q: What’s one word you’d use to describe your LC experience?

A: Amazing!

Q: What’s one piece of advice you’d give today’s students?

A: Try everything LaGrange has to offer. Do things that you have never done. When I went to LaGrange, I oddly already knew exactly what I wanted to do, become a CPA, but I know that's not normal. What I didn't know was all of the other things I would get to do and try at the school that would stick with me forever. I took theater classes and made a lifelong friendship with Kim Barber. I met one of the best friends I have ever had in a college roommate that changed my life forever. I got to play on a championship college softball team. I got to experience amazing exhibits at the Lamar Dodd Art Center that changed throughout my college career. I learned to be independent but still realize how important Jesus and my family were to me while away at school. If there is something you want to experience but it seems out of your box, let LaGrange give you all of that and more!  Go Panthers!!
