Junior speaks at community event

For Sports Management junior Haleigh Redden, working for the City of Douglasville’s Parks and Recreation Department was not just a summer job, but also an opportunity to serve and inspire youth in her hometown.

“During my internship, I was a panelist in a sports seminar,” she said. “With 11 other participants, we got to speak to youth about our experience as collegiate athletes or working in the sports industry.”

In addition to Redden, 10 other Sports Management majors and students from various programs participated in summer internships.

Senior Kyle Moore served as a Fellow at the United States Tennis Association’s National Campus in Orlando, Florida.

“I assisted in coaching and managing all summer programming on the campus,” he said. “I spoke with multiple leaders within the industry in all sorts of departments including coaching, player development, operations and marketing.”

Senior Brodie Scott worked behind-the-scenes with the Athletics Department at the University of Georgia.

“It was very cool to see the business side of sports and realize that a whole lot of effort and attention goes into it,” he said.

Senior Wyatt Moore had the opportunity to work with the Macon Bacon, a collegiate summer baseball team in the Coastal Plain League. He said he felt prepared for the internship because of what he has learned at LC.

“Being at LaGrange gave me experience of how to conduct myself and what to expect when working in the field,” he said. “I feel ready for the next step in my career.”
