John A. Tures, PhD, has taught political science at LaGrange College since 2001 and now serves as Chair of the Political Science Program and Director of Undergraduate Research. Born in Milwaukee and raised in El Paso, Texas, he has guided students to present at conferences across the country and publish research in newspaper columns and scholarly works. He and colleagues at LaGrange College have led student trips to Costa Rica and Greece, hurricane relief trips to Georgia and Florida, and visits to museums in Washington, D.C. His wife, Elizabeth Tures, is the lead middle school teacher at LaGrange Academy, where she teaches English and keeps him up to date on student writing and slang. Dr. Tures holds a BA in Communications and Political Science from Trinity University, an MA in International Affairs from Marquette University, and a PhD in Political Science from Florida State University. He teaches Introduction to American Government, International Politics, Comparative Politics, Research Methods, and Senior Seminar, among many other courses, and his areas of expertise include American and international politics, civic engagement, Georgia politics, and writing and publishing columns and fiction.
