Amanda Plumlee, PhD, teaches Spanish at LaGrange College, where she has been a member of the faculty since 1996. A Fulbright scholar to Ecuador, she has also led study-away trips to Italy, Spain, and Costa Rica, and her love of language grew from a lifelong appreciation for reading and travel. In her own words, she has experienced first-hand "the kindness and warmth of others when I speak with them in their beloved language." Dr. Plumlee holds a BA from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and an MA and PhD from the University of Tennessee. She teaches all levels of Spanish along with courses in Latin American and Spanish Literature, Medical Spanish, Business Spanish, Latin American Studies, and Gender Studies. Her areas of expertise include Latin American and Latina women writers, Spanish literature, and the history of the women's movement in the United States.
