Clayton "Clay" Bolton, EdD, is an Associate Professor of Sports Management at LaGrange College. He joined the faculty in 2022 and is beginning his fifth year as the college's sports management professor. A native of Georgia and South Carolina with 32 years of experience in higher education, he is a three-time SEC veteran, having worked at the University of Georgia, Mississippi State University, and the University of South Carolina in student affairs, athletics, and faculty roles. Dr. Bolton holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Augusta College (now Augusta University), a Master of Science in Sports Management from Georgia Southern University, and a Doctorate of Education in Higher Education Administration from Mississippi State University. He teaches Introduction to Sports Management, Sports Law, Sports Marketing, and Sports Facilities and Events, having taught sports law since 1997, and he is co-editor of the Journal of NCAA Compliance. He has led experiential learning trips for students to events including the SEC Softball Tournament, Wimbledon, the Super Bowl, and the NCAA Men's Basketball Final Four, and his areas of expertise include sports facilities, NCAA rules, sports law, and the intersection of religion and sports.
