Students and faculty travel to, and study in, Greece

Building global citizens

Global Engagement Endowment - $4-5 million

Bolstered by the $2,500 travel vouchers the college provides to incoming freshmen, study abroad participation continues to grow. Recent Study Away destinations include the Philippines, Ecuador, Italy, Thailand, El Salvador and Greece.

But Jan Term and May Away travel is only part of the college’s Global Engagement Initiative, which was developed through our strategic and Quality Enhancement plans. It aims to enlarge students’ “local world” perspective to a global one and consists of both “study away” and “study here” components. The latter incorporates additions reaching from the core curriculum to all academic majors and extending to co-curricular activities.

Endowing these global engagement initiatives will ensure that future LaGrange students are prepared for our increasingly interconnected world. Current efforts have boosted study-away participation to more than 75 percent; our goal is for all students to benefit from such an experience.

“My class curriculum has broadened my horizons and transformed me into a more culturally diverse individual, and the wonderful student organizations have given me key tools needed for the real world.”
