Self-quarantine involves remaining in your home or residence hall with limited public contact due to potential exposure to infectious disease (cold or flu), international travel or travel to an area with a high occurrence of COVID-19.
During quarantine, the individual should do their best to keep six feet of distance between any others in their home environment, limit contact to as few individuals as possible (as few as 1-2), and use antibacterial disinfectant after each restroom use, especially for shared restrooms.
If an individual has active cold or flu-like symptoms, including fever, cough, sneezing, vomiting, intestinal issues, or shortness of breath, they should choose to self-isolate themselves until such symptoms are no longer present for a minimum of 10 days since initial symptoms appeared and 24 hours without medication to treat symptoms. While isolating, when possible should stay at home in a specific room away from others, and use a separate bathroom, if possible. After symptoms cease, the individual should do their best to keep six feet of distance between any others in their home environment, limit contact to as few individuals as possible (as few as 1-2), and use antibacterial disinfectant after each restroom use, especially for shared restrooms.
Mandated Quarantine involves remaining in your home or residence hall with limited public contact due to confirmed exposure to COVID-19. This is usually determined by the Department of Public Health through investigation and surveillance of current active COVID-19 cases. Such mandated quarantine involves no less than 10 days of confinement.
In the instance of self or mandated quarantine on the LC campus, residential students shall receive meals delivered to their door. Students who require mandated quarantine but do not exhibit symptoms, will be allowed to remain quarantined in their assigned residence hall room. Students who require mandated quarantine and do exhibit symptoms will be assigned a temporary housing space for isolation precautions. Students assigned to a temporary space will receive a medical kit with a thermometer, hand sanitizer and quarantine instructions, and a daily telemedical check-in with a WeCare medical staff member.
Mandated Isolation involves remaining in your home or residence hall with zero public contact due to a positive COVID-19 test, with or without active symptoms. In this circumstance, residential students shall receive meals delivered to their door, a medical kit with a thermometer, hand sanitizer and isolation instructions, and once-daily telemedical check-ins with a WeCare medical staff member. The amount of time spent in isolation will be dependent on the length of illness, presence of symptoms and medical provider’s guidance.
