On July 1, LaGrange College welcomes its 24th president, the youngest college president among the nation's 123 United Methodist-affiliated schools at the time.

President Gulley appoints task forces to study a mission statement, student and residential life, ethics, retention and athletics.

1997
Georgia Trend names President Gulley to its "Forty under 40" list, which recognizes rising stars in key professions.  




1998
Trustees sanction new student Honor Code.

Dining hall renovation launches a series of major upgrades to campus facilities.




1999
College announces Candler bequest of $22.5 million.
2000
LaGrange College at Albany established

Campus unveils Callaway Academic Building, Cleaveland Field and a new maintenance facility.

Core curriculum revised; academic calendar shifts from quarters to 4-1-4 semester system.

Remer H'02 and Emily Crum '35, H'02, announce their intention to will Atlanta's Century Center office park to Mercer University and LaGrange College.

2001
Celebration marks completion of a five-year $37 million fund-raising campaign.

U.S. News & World Report names LaGrange to its top 10 list for Southern comprehensive colleges.

Two new apartment-style residence halls boost campus capacity by 248.




2003
Former President Carter visits campus and stays in College President's home during Jimmy Carter Work Project.

New Student Center opens.

NCAA Division III grants Panthers full membership.




2004
Trustees endorse creation of a football program.







2005
College reaches record fall enrollment.



2006
Callaway Auditorium hosts April dedicatory concert after a $5.5 million transformation into campus concert hall.

 



2007
College breaks ground on new 45,000 square-foot Frank and Laura Lewis Library.
