The Rev. Dr. Quincy Brown has decided to return to the church pastorate this summer
and leave his post as Vice President of Spiritual Life and Church Relations at
"Working on issues related to vocation over the last year with the Network for
Vocation in Undergraduate Education (NetVUE), taking our worship team Undivided
out and ministering to churches, and reuniting with First United Methodist Church
in LaGrange and its Morning Glory service have made me realize how much I miss
serving and working in the local church," Dr. Brown said. "As a result, I've decided
to request a local church appointment from the Bishop of the North Georgia Conference
of the United Methodist Church.
"I have loved serving LaGrange College and nurturing its United Methodist connection.
This just represents a move to another phase of my calling to serve the church
Dr. Brown expects to receive a new appointment after this June's North Georgia
Annual Conference. He will be missed, according to college President Dan McAlexander.
"Quincy has represented the spirit of LaGrange College to our communities for
17 years," he said. "He is passionate about our mission and the success of our
"Faculty, staff and students also have benefitted from his pastoral care and servant's
heart. We are grateful for his time with us."
Plans for a farewell gathering for Dr. Brown will be announced later in the semester.
