Joseph Miller has been named LaGrange College's new Dean of Enrollment Management,
overseeing both the admission and financial aid offices. He is the current director
of admission at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala.
Will Jones, Vice President for External Relations, said he looks forward to the
ideas and energy Miller will bring to the college's enrollment function.
"Joseph has a thorough understanding of private higher education and a proven
track record of success in private college admissions—abilities that led to overall
growth at his present institution of more than 25 percent," he said. "We are very
pleased to have someone of his quality joining our enrollment team."
LaGrange College President Dan McAlexander said, "I am impressed by the innovative
and cutting-edge strategies Joseph has developed for recruitment. We are delighted
to welcome him to LaGrange."
Miller earned his bachelor's degree in philosophy from Austin Peay State University
in Clarksville, Tenn., and his master's degree in intellectual history from Auburn
University. He also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Huntingdon College.
"The institutional reputation of LaGrange College reflects its culture and dedication
to student success," Miller said. "Now, LaGrange is uniquely poised for further
distinction, with many exciting and ambitious projects contributing to growth in
enrollment.
"I am honored to join the institution, and I look forward to helping continue
that momentum as Dean of Enrollment Management."
Miller began his work in college recruitment 10 years ago as an admission counselor
at Huntingdon. He advanced to assistant director of admission in 2004, and director
of admission in 2005.
He currently serves on the college's strategic planning committee, institutional
effectiveness task force and persistence task force.
He is chair-elect of the Alabama ACT Council, was a district coordinator for the
Alabama Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and has been
a presenter and resource for numerous higher education events and publications.
A native of Jacksboro, Tenn., Miller and his wife, Melissa, have three children
and will be relocating to the LaGrange area.
"My family and I have been showered with hospitality and warm welcomes from the
college and the community," he said, "and we are looking forward to calling LaGrange
our new home."
