Commencement ceremonies to move indoors
May 18, 2013
The decision has been made to move the commencement ceremonies indoors to Callaway Auditorium.
“In consideration of all of our graduates and their families, we regret to announce that we will move indoors,” said Provost David Garrison.
“At this point, we don’t see a substantial enough break in the weather to safely conduct the exercises outdoors. And even if we could, the grounds are saturated and swampy.”
As previously announced, the ceremony will be divided into two segments:
Students receiving the following degrees will attend the 8:30 ceremony: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, and Bachelor of Science.
Students receiving the following degrees will attend the 10:30 ceremony: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and ALL graduate degrees (M.A., MAT, M.Ed., Ed.S.).
Students will line up in the lobby; faculty will robe backstage.
Since seating will be limited, each graduate will be allowed five guests in attendance. Tickets can be picked up from Student Engagement at the doors of the auditorium for those who did not pick them up yesterday.
The ceremony also can be viewed via webcast in Turner Hall or online at www.lagrange.edu/graduation (click “live video” in the menu bar).
Please note that Campus Exclusives (located on the ground floor of the Dining Hall) will be open before, during and after both ceremonies for guests to purchase commemorative items.
Also note that Lewis Library will be open for gatherings and celebrations immediately following the second ceremony (approximately noon), and the dining hall will be open for lunch.
