Maryl Burke of Knoxville, Tenn., and Brianna Campbell of Moultrie, Ga., recently earned LaGrange College’s highest scholarship award, the Presidential Scholarship.

As top entering freshmen, the pair will receive full tuition, room and board scholarships beginning in the fall of 2007 and renewable for the following three years.

Maryl is currently a student at West High School and Brianna attends Colquitt County High School.

Presidential Scholars were selected through a recent Scholar Weekend competition at the College where students were judged on their performance in group discussions, written essays and individual interviews.

In addition to the Presidential Scholarships, 30 other students received new scholarship awards through the competition, including 27 Dean’s Scholars who will receive $12,000 annual awards.

A four-year liberal arts and sciences college affiliated with the United Methodist Church, LaGrange College is ranked in the top 10 and as a “best value” among 106 Southern comprehensive colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The college is the
oldest private institution of higher learning in Georgia and has an enrollment of more
than 1,100 students.
