Brazil is the fifth largest in the world in terms of geographic area and population. These enormous dimensions offer great differences in culture and landscape, and also a huge economy—making it an important player on the world stage. Brazil will be in the spotlight in the near future, as the country hosts the 2014 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.

• Concluding the series on April 22 is college President Dan McAlexander with a session on “Brazilian Inspired Music.” Dr. McAlexander has earned degrees in piano performance from the University of Kansas, The Juilliard School and the University of Cincinnati.

All the sessions begin at 10 a.m. and are held in Turner Hall.
