My Defining Moment
For Jane Holik, it is easy being green! She and three classmates share a small, environmentally proaive bungalow on campus they affectionately call, “Gang Green.”
“This is the first year for the college to have a ‘green’ house,” she says. “We have tons of ideas for making it more sustainable. It’s an older home, but we have a new, more efficient toilet, a new shower head and a new water heater that heats water only when you need it.“
"Our goal is to use our resources well so that we’re not wasteful,” she explains.
Her passion for sustainability also is evident in her career choice. She plans to be a good steward of all the earth’s living creatures: “I want to spend my life helping others and improving people’s situations so they can live a better life.”
