My Defining Moment

For Austin Cook III ’69, LaGrange College is a way of life. His father served as College business manager for 32 years, and he followed his mother as a graduate of the institution. Plus, he has served as campus Postmaster for 26 years. So, he had much to pay tribute to when he estalished an annual scholarship in his parents’ honor a few years ago.

“It’s a way to give something back to the school that has meant a lot to me and my family over the last 57 years,” he says.

The current recipient of that scholarship is Susan Standifer ’09. The grant helps her to be ale to attend the school she fell in love with during her very first visit.

“It’s made a huge difference,” she says. “The College has opened up my mind to see so many different options for my future. There are too many possibilities.”
