'A Panther Family Event' - Saturday, March 23

Panther Mascot

Witness history in the making. On March 23, a new LaGrange Panther mascot makes his first appearance on campus. He's got a new look, a new attitude—and some amazing pearly whites.

So come be part of history. There will be food, inflatables and other family fun—along with a farewell send-off for the old mascot. (Sorry, pal.)

A complete schedule of events is listed at right, with details below.

Panther II Panther. It's huge. It's historic.
It's a big hairy deal.
Don't miss it.

Schedule of events

Parent to Parent Discussion Session
10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Callaway Education Building, Room 108
Jackson Daniel '82, President of the LaGrange College Alumni Association and father to three LaGrange College students, will be speaking about his experiences as a student, alumnus and LaGrange College parent.  Come to listen or ask questions, but there is no doubt that you will learn something in this enjoyable chat.

Panther Tailgate
11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Parking area in front of Callaway Education Building
Designed to be a festive, community-based experience for all students, faculty, staff, alumni, and parents, you are invited to pull up, pop open a tent or throw down a blanket and enjoy the best of our LaGrange family atmosphere.  Bring whatever you like, but the college also will be providing a full meal for the whole family that features a Mexican street fair theme.  We will even have inflatable games for the little (and not so little) ones.

Panther II Panther Roast
1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Callaway Education Building Gymnasium
The day's headlining event is the Panther II Panther Roast to celebrate the great run of the college's most tenured staff member: the Panther mascot.  What could be a more appropriate way to celebrate the career of our dear Panther than offering him our highest honor: a retirement roast hosted by a panel of celebrity roasters? (Invited roasters include: Jack Mormon '89, Josh Britt '10, Professor Kim Barbara Knoll, Rob Dicks M '05, and current students Jasmine Farmer and Ty Williams).  You don't want to miss what promises to be a wonderful time of laughs, the celebration of old memories, as well as the creation of new memories.  Keep in mind that, with the retirement of the current mascot, something new must be coming your way.  Perhaps you and the family might get to meet her or him today?  As you might expect, special commemorative T-shirts will be available as will a professional photographer to take pictures of the family with the panther following the event.  From here, the choice is yours: attend one or several athletic events all within a short walk, take in a play, or you can actually do both!
