Health Services

Health Services ready to help

There is no need to worry when you get that dreaded phone call from a sick child. LaGrange College has a campus clinic designed to provide comprehensive primary medical care – a first stop for minor injuries and illness.

Operated by WeCare TLC, Health Services is located at the corner of Forrest Avenue and Dallis Street (directly across from the college’s soccer complex).  The clinic provides urgent care office visits with a physician or nurse practitioner, urgent care prescriptions (antibiotics), and in-house lab work – all at no cost to the student.

Services do not include visits for chronic medical conditions or prescriptions for birth control pills or other medications.

Because the staff is dedicated to serving a small population, doctor visits usually take up less time. And the clinic staff generally spends about 20 minutes with each patient, on average, compared to the seven minutes usually provided in other settings.

Please note that while the campus clinic offers a no-cost and convenient health benefit to students, these services do not replace the need to carry a health insurance policy through a parent, or purchased through the college.

The clinic is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.  (The clinic will be closed on Thursdays and weekends.) Students may drop in or call for an appointment at (800) 941-0644 option 2.

WeCare TLC Health Services Q & A

  • Q: Who can go to WeCare TLC, Health Services?
  • A: All students can go to WeCare TLC, Health Services for "urgent" care. There is a physician and nurse practitioner onsite. They are able to prescribe medications and run in-house lab work at no cost to the student. They do not provide care for on-going, medical conditions.

  • Q: Is there a cost to visit, or will there be a claim against my insurance?
  • A: No, there is no cost nor will there be an insurance claim.

  • Q: Is there a cost for medications?
  • A: If medicines are filled at WeCare, there is no cost. If you require a medication WeCare does not stock, it will need to be filled at a pharmacy at your cost.

  • Q: Where is WeCare located?
  • A: On the corner of Forrest Avenue and Dallis Street – directly across from the LC Soccer Complex.

  • Q: What are their hours of operation?
  • A: Monday – Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Closed on Thursday)

  • Q: Do I need an appointment?

  • Q: Do I need to show my student ID?
  • A: Yes, make sure you take your student ID with you.

  • Q: Do I still have to be covered under an insurance policy?
  • A: Yes, while WeCare will not file an insurance claim, you must have health insurance coverage either from the LC student policy or a family policy.

  • Q: Can my friends go with me?
  • A: Due to limited space in the waiting area, please do not take all your friends with you!

  • Q: May I still go to Emory Clark Holder Clinic?
  • A: Yes, you may go to Emory Clark Holder Clinic or any other physician office or urgent care center, but it will be at your expense and filed on insurance. The College's arrangement with WeCare replaces the no fee service arrangement with Emory Clark Holder Clinic.

  • Q: If WeCare is closed, where do I seek medical care?
  • A: Unless it is an emergency or an accident, we suggest you wait and schedule an appointment at the clinic. All emergencies and serious accidents will be referred to a hospital emergency room and filed with insurance.

Counseling Center

We know there is more to a healthy student than physical well-being. Sometimes the stresses of being away from home, keeping up with academics and dealing with new relationships can be a little hard to handle.

The LaGrange College Counseling Center's mission is to maintain a welcoming and confidential atmosphere while providing academic coaching, personal growth development and short-term counseling. The center assists in attaining accommodations for students with physical, mental and learning disabilities, and helps students successfully create both short- and long-term goals toward their academic, personal and career objectives. A licensed counselor directs the counseling and coordinates all other services.

An important part of our philosophy is that each student has the resources available to receive advice, assistance and counseling throughout his/her college experience.
