SERVICE SATURDAY: Stop Hunger Now Packing EventOctober 20, 2012
at LaGrange First United Methodist Church (Fellowship Hall)
Service Saturday is Saturday, October 20. For the second year we will gather in the Fellowship Hall of LaGrange First United Methodist Church and working with Stop Hunger Now, the international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid around the world. The goal is to pack 20,000 plus meals. Each meal packaged comes at the cost of a quarter. Our Stop Hunger Now project is part of an effort by the seven United Methodist Church-related colleges in the North Georgia region, that will be completed by Thanksgiving, to package enough meals to fill a small container (the equivalent of 125, 000 plus meals).
On October 18, the College will host alumni and local pastor, Rev. Nathaniel Long ’90, who will share about his work and experience with Stop Hunger Now during a cultural enrichment event. Rev. Long will highlight different projects he has done with Stop Hunger Now, including going on a delivery trip to other countries. This lecture coincides with World Food Day, which is on October 16.
Please register and be part of this transforming experience of service and learning on Saturday, October 20.
