Cummins added to Panthers' coaching staff
Aug. 16, 2007

Head coach Mark Isenhour announces the hiring of Emily Cummins to the Panthers' coaching staff. Cummins comes to LaGrange from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio. She was an assistant coach at Otterbein for three seasons. Cummins was involved with various aspects of the Otterbein program, including guard development and the head coach for the JV program.

"We got an absolute steal in Emily Cummins.  Emily, as both a player and a coach, knows what it takes to win at the regional and national levels.  She had a storybook career as a player which culminated in her Wilmington team winning the National Championship in 2004." Isenhour said.  "I think it is one thing for a player to listen to a coach, but another thing entirely for a player to listen to a coach who can instantly be validated by the way in which she carries herself, her knowledge of the game, and her obvious prior success."

Cummins played her college basketball at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio.  In her senior year, Wilmington won the NCAA Division III national championship. Cummins was named the Sectionals Most Valuable Player after scoring the winning basket with 23 seconds left that lifted her team into the Final Four. At Wilmington, Cummins played on three Ohio Athletic Conference champions, an Elite Eight team and a Sweet Sixteen team.

Cummins holds a bachelor's degree in sports management from Wilmington and a master's degree in business administration from Otterbein.
