Panthers fall to Judson in final game of the Regular Season

The women's basketball team lost their final game of the regular season on the road, to Judson College, 80-67 in Judson, Ala. Friday evening. The Panthers finish the regular season with a 14-11 record, the most wins since 2003-04. The Eagles, who compete in the NCCAA, improve to 7-18 on the season.
The Panthers got on the board first with a Shannah Mabry three-pointer that gave them a 3-0 lead. They would not lead the rest of the first half as the Eagles started off well as they went on a 20-5 run to give them the largest lead of the game, 20-8 with 13:01 remaining in the half.
The Panthers countered with a 17-5 run to make the score, 25-22 as Mabry hit a three-pointer to close the deficit to within three with 5:15 to go in the first half. Ebonie Johnson would hit a three-pointer to make the halftime score, 34-29.

The Panthers could not get any closer as the Eagles would score 26 of the next 41 points over the next nine minutes to grab their biggest lead of the ballgame at 17 with 1:07 to go to seal the game.
Heather Power would score the team's final eight points as she showed no signs of quitting in the losing effort. She would finish with 11 points, three rebounds and three assists. LaTessa Taylor would lead the Panthers with a double-double as she poured in 11 points, three steals and 10 rebounds, all in the second half. Valeree Williams would toss in a 13-point, six-rebound performance in the losing effort for the Panthers.
The Panthers will host the Huntingdon Hawks in the quarterfinals of the GSAC Tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. The Panthers swept the Hawks for the first time in school history, defeating them both times this season by 15 points (72-57 on the road and 83-68 at home on senior night).
The GSAC Tournament will be held at LaGrange College on Feb. 23-24 starting at 1 p.m.
