Isenhour named as new women's basketball head coach

June 19, 2007

Former LaGrange College basketball player Mark Isenhour will return to his alma mater to coach the Panthers women's basketball program.

"This is such a gratifying and exciting feeling to me to get a chance to come back to LaGrange, for what I've called home for six years," said Isenhour.  "I am so elated about the opportunity to take the program to the next level and become one of the premier schools in the southeast to match the school's great reputation."

Isenhour, a 2004 graduate of LaGrange and a four-year letterman on the Panther men's basketball team, will come back to his alma mater after spending a year at Embry-Riddle University as an assistant coach for the men's basketball team.  He was an assistant coach at LaGrange from 2004-06.  He believes that his work ethic will rub off on his players in his first head coaching position.

"I've talked with each member of the team and the four seniors look to be at eye level with me on working hard to compete for the GSAC Championship right away," Isenhour said.  "We have a lot of talent and most of them are coming back so we should see results right away."

A Snellville, Ga. native, Isenhour scored nearly 1,000 points and had over 450 rebounds while starting every game at center during his four years with the Panthers.  He has a degree in Psychology and a master's degree in Sports Administration from Georgia State University in 2006.

Isenhour and his wife, Cheri, have a daughter, Ashlyn (1).
