Huntingdon rallies to down Panthers in GSAC game Jan. 12, 2008
MONTGOMERY, Ala. - LaGrange College's women's team held a seven-point lead in the second half of Saturday's game against Huntingdon, but the Panthers were unable to hold on as the Lady Hawks rallied for a 58-54 victory.
With the win, the Lady Hawks improve to 7-5 overall and move to 2-0 in league play.
LaGrange College (5-8 overall) fell to 1-2 in GSAC play.
The Panthers held a 55-47 advantage on the glass, but committed 18 turnovers and hit only 20-of-73 shots from the floor.
Heather Tidwell paced LaGrange College with 12 points, while Jessica Barba and Valeree Williams each contributed nine rebounds.
Leading by four at the intermission, 29-25, the Lady Hawks built a 45-38 lead later in the half.
Despite the spurt, LaGrange College erased the deficit and built its own seven-point lead, thanks to 14 consecutive points.
During the run by the Panthers, Huntingdon missed all five of its attempts from the floor and committed three turnovers.
Down seven points with less than five minutes, the Lady Hawks dominated the rest of the game, though.
The Panthers face Atlanta Christian on the road Tuesday at 5 p.m.
