Emory cruises past Panthers Nov. 28, 2007
ATLANTA, Ga. Emory University cruised past LaGrange College 79-44 on Wednesday night at the Woodruff Center. The loss dropped the Panthers to 3-3 on the season. Emory improved to 3-1.
The Panthers only led twice in the early going of the game. Jessica Boler scored off an assist from Ebonie Johnson for the game's first basket. Johnson's jumper put the Panthers up for the last time, 4-2.
Emory went on a 14-0 run after Johnson's basket to take control of the game. Ashley Hoglund stopped the Eagles' run with the first of her three 3-pointers in the game. The Panthers never got closer than nine points the rest of the half. Emory led 47-26 at the break.
LaGrange shot only 24.1 percent from the field in the second half, including 0-for-9 from 3-point range. Emory led by as many as 38 points in the second half. The Eagles' Erica Kaplan led all scorers with 16 points.
Hoglund led the Panthers with nine points and Shannah Mabry added eight. Boler and Jessica Barba shared team honors with seven rebounds each.
The Panthers play at Oglethorpe University on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m.
