Head Coach Mark Isenhour
Mark Isenhour begins his first year as the Panthers' head coach for the 2007-08 season.
"I would like to first, and foremost, thank Coach Phil Williamson, Dr. Linda Buchanan and Dr. Stuart Gulley for this opportunity. I think it is a special time in any coach's life to receive their first head coaching appointment. When you couple that with the fact that I have the fortune to take this appointment at my alma mater, it is a very gratifying and humbling experience."
Isenhour, a 2004 graduate of LaGrange and a four-year letterman on the Panther men's basketball team, will come back to his alma mater after spending a year at Embry-Riddle University.
"I have been fortunate enough to spend the last year under one of the best practitioners around in Coach Steve Ridder (Embry-Riddle University) and have been fortunate enough to form lifelong friendships with him and his staff. I think we can take many of the things that keep that program in national prominennce in the NAIA and apply them to LaGrange."
He was an assistant coach at LaGrange from 2004-06. A center on the basketball team, he scored nearly 1,000 points and had over 450 rebounds for his career. Isenhour started every game during his four years with the Panthers.
He has a degree in Psychology and a master's degree in Sports Administration from Georgia State University. Isenhour and his wife, Cheri, have a daughter, Ashlyn (1).
Assistant Coach Emily Cummins
Emily Cummins begins her first year with the Panthers. Cummins comes to LaGrange from Otterbein College in Westerville, Ohio. She was an assistant coach at Otterbein for three seasons. Cummins was involved with various aspects of the Otterbein program, including guard development and the head coach for the JV program.
Cummins played her college basketball at Wilmington College in Wilmington, Ohio. In her senior year, Wilmington won the NCAA Division III national championship. Cummins was named the Sectionals Most Valuable Player after scoring the winning basket with 23 seconds left that lifted her team into the Final Four. At Wilmington, Cummins played on three Ohio Athletic Conference champions, an Elite Eight team and a Sweet Sixteen team.
Cummins holds a bachelor's degree in sports management from Wilmington and a master's degree in business administration from Otterbein.
Coach Isenhour on Cummins: "We got an absolute steal in Emily Cummins. Emily, as both a player and a coach, knows what it takes to win at the regional and national levels. She had a storybook career as a player which culminated in her Wilmington team winning the National Championship in 2004. I think it is one thing for a player to listen to a coach, but another thing entirely for a player to listen to a coach who can instantly be validated by the way in which she carries herself, her knowledge of the game, and her obvious prior success."
