Panthers pick up first win of 2006 season

The Panther volleyball team got its first win of the season Friday night. The Panthers blanked Judson College 3-0 in Marion, Ala. The Panthers took the match by scores of 30-11, 30-23 and 30-25.

The Panthers got off to a quick start in the first game. The Panthers recorded 11 kills and had a .500 hitting percentage. The Panthers cooled off in winning the second game and recorded 11 more kills in closing out the match in the third game.

Seniors Megan Moore and Niki Metcalf tied for team honors with seven kills each. Moore also added a team-high 10 assists.

Kiley Kirkpatrick had six kills and a team-best .462 hitting percentage. She also led the Panthers with six service aces. The Panthers finished with 17 service aces in the match. Sara Newland had a team-high 13 digs, while Kayla Black added 12.

The Panthers travel to Oglethorpe on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
