Panthers go 1-3 at Centre tournament
Sept. 18, 2006

The Panther volleyball team went 1-3 at the Centre College Invitational in Danville, Ky. over the weekend. The results left the Panthers 2-8 on the season.

"Our record through the first 10 matches of schedule is misleading." Head coach Kelly Britsky said.  "We have played a very demanding schedule and it has shown with our youth and inexperience. But we have improved each match and I'm positive we are heading in the right direction."

The Panthers lost hard-fought decisions to host Centre and Gettysburg on Saturday. They split with Hanover and Wilmington to close out the tournament Sunday.

The Panthers opened the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Centre. The Lady Colonels took the first and third games by identical 30-28 scores and the second game 30-19. The Panthers started the final day with a 3-0 loss to Hanover by scores of 30-16, 30-22 and 30-18. Moore led the Panthers with eight kills and 15 assists. Sara Newland had a team-high 15 digs.

The Panthers closed out the tournament by beating Wilmington in three games by scores of 30-20, 30-21 and 30-25. Kirkpatrick, who was named to the all-tournament team, had nine kills, while Britny Greenspage added eight. Kayla Black had a double-double of 13 assists and 10 digs.
