On the competition the Panthers faced
The competition was by far the best we will see all year, which was rough being that is was our first time out this year and only a few practices under our belt. I hope that later in the season we will look back and be glad that we played such high caliber teams so early in the season. You know when you are in a match you only see what is happening wrong on your side, but when I watched Alaska-Anchorage and Briar Cliff play each other, I realized how good they both really were.
On the players who stood out for the Panthers
We had some really bright spots during the weekend and we also found out some weaknesses. Our freshmen settled in early and gained some valuable experience. They hung with some great teams, this can only lead to more success for them later. Freshmen, Sarah Newland played a very solid outside, while Britny Greensage was a presence on the net against some really quick offenses. Setter Kayla Black got her feet wet and was a spark in one of the matches.
On improving during the season
With only two seniors on the court, we are younger than it might first appear, but give these girls a chance, they will be improving everyday. Our focus is just that, to get better every day, because this year the conference tournament is what it all comes down to, winner take all!
