Panthers split Saturday road matches Oct. 28, 2006 SEWANEE, Tenn. - LaGrange College split a pair of volleyball matches Saturday at the University of the South. The Panthers (11-15) beat the host Tigers 3-1 and lost 3-0 to Transylvania.
Against the University of the South, the Panthers lost the first game 30-26. They came back to sweep the final three games by identical 30-28 scores. The Panthers lost 30-21, 30-25 and 30-16.
Senior Megan Moore and junior Kiley Kirkpatrick sparked the Panthers against the Tigers. Moore recorded her fourth triple-double of the season. She had 11 kills, 25 assists and 18 digs. Kirkpatrick had her first career triple-double. She had 11 kills, 11 digs and 11 total blocks.
Niki Metcalf and Kayla Black had double-doubles. Metcalf had team-highs of 14 kills and 21 digs. Black had 20 assists and 15 digs. Sarah Newland had 20 digs and Grace Burgess 19. The Panthers had a season-high 115 digs in the match.
In the loss to Transylvania, Kirkpatrick had a team-high nine kills. Metcalf and Britny Greensage added six each. Moore led the team with 15 assists, while Black led with eight digs.
The Panthers close out the regular season Wednesday at Reinhardt. The Panthers lost to Reinhardt 3-1 at home on Oct. 4. The Panthers face Agnes Scott on Friday in the first round of the GSAC Tournament hosted by Piedmont College in Demorest, Ga.
