Panthers win final match of Millsaps Invitational Sept. 8, 2007
JACKSON, Miss. LaGrange College swept host Millsaps College 3-0 in its final match of the Millsaps College Invitational on Saturday. The Panthers took the three games from the Lady Majors by scores of 30-20, 30-24 and 30-24. The Panthers (2-3) finished the two-day tournament 1-3.
Casey Craig and Megan Waycaster had double-doubles in the win over Millsaps. Craig had 12 kills and 10 digs, while Waycaster 32 assists and 15 digs. Kiley Kirkpatrick had a team-high 13 kills and Sarah Newland had a team-high 20 digs.
The Panthers lost 3-0 to East Texas Baptist University in their first match Saturday. Kirkpatrick and Britny Greensage each had five kills for the Panthers.
On Friday, the Panthers lost 3-2 to Mary Hardin-Baylor and 3-1 to Mississippi College. Kayla Black had back-to-back double-doubles in the matches. She had 23 assists and 13 digs against Mary Hardin-Baylor and 23 assists and 11 digs against Mississippi College. Greensage led the Panthers with 10 kills against Mary Hardin-Baylor and another eight kills against Mississippi College. Grace Burgess had team-highs of 25 digs against Mary Hardin-Baylor and 22 digs against Mississippi College.
The Panthers travel to Atlanta on Wednesday to face Oglethorpe. The match begins at 7 p.m.
