May 6, 2008

LaGrange College announces the hiring of Julie Moses as head volleyball coach. Moses will officially begin her duties July 1. Moses comes to LaGrange from Elmira College in Elmira, N.Y. For the past two seasons at Elmira, Moses has been the assistant head coach and the head coach for the junior varsity team.

"I think we have hired a very dynamic and exciting young volleyball coach in Julie. Her enthusiasm will be a big asset to our successful volleyball program." LaGrange athletics director Phil Williamson said. "We are very happy to get a coach with her background as a player at Marietta College and a coach at Elmira College. With her expertise in other areas she will be a big plus for LaGrange College athletics."

"I am very excited to begin my career as a head coach." Moses said. "There is so much I can't wait to offer the sport of volleyball and I really can't think of a better place to start than at LaGrange."

Moses is completing her masters in education degree from Elmira. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio where she was a dean's scholarship recipient and on the dean's high list. At Marietta, Moses was a four-year letterman in volleyball as a defensive specialist. She also played two years on the softball team.

Moses has worked as an intern and student assistant in the Marietta sports information office. She has served as acting sports information director at Marietta. Moses has also served as an athletics communications intern at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa.

Moses coached with Rhonda Faunce at Elmira, who has over 400 wins as a head coach. She will draw from this experience to bring her own style of play to LaGrange.

"We are going to be very quick and full of energy. Our offense will be very explosive and our defense will be strongly disciplined." Moses explained. "We are going to fight through each point and won't back down until we've put away three games to win the match."
