FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – LaGrange split two games during the first day of the NCAA First Round tournament at Methodist University's Monarch Field. The fifth-seeded Panthers edged fourth-seeded Emory 2-1 in the day's first game before falling 4-0 to top-seeded and seventh-ranked Lynchburg.

Panthers travel to North Carolina for first round of NCAA tournament

The LaGrange softball team will travel to Fayetteville, N.C. for the first round of the 2008 NCAA Division III Softball Championship. The Panthers (24-18) are seeded fifth in the seven-team regional hosted by Methodist University. The regional will use a double-elimination format.

Panthers place three on GSAC All-Conference team

LaGrange placed three players on the GSAC All-Conference team during ceremonies at the GSAC Championship Tournament last weekend at Piedmont College's Walker Field. The Panthers had two others selected to the GSAC All-Freshman team and five earn GSAC All-Academic honors.

DEMOREST, Ga. – LaGrange captured its second straight GSAC Championship Softball Tournament with a dramatic 7-6 win over Piedmont on Monday at Walker Field. The Panthers, now 24-18, also will receive the GSAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III national tournament for the second year in a row.

Emory spoiled Senior Day for LaGrange by sweeping a doubleheader by scores of 11-3 and 11-5. The losses dropped the Panthers to 20-18 as they closed out the regular season. The Eagles improved to 27-9 after sweeping the Panthers for the second time this season.

MACON, Ga. – LaGrange swept Wesleyan on Thursday at Matthews Athletic Center. The Panthers (19-15) won the first game 3-0 and completed the sweep with a 6-0 win in the second game. Amanda Daniel, Megan Henry and Danielle LaDuron combined to hold the Pioneers (4-25) to just 10 hits in the two games.

The Panthers took the first game 2-0 and finished the sweep with an 8-7 win in eight innings in the second game. The Panthers improved to 9-3 in conference play and 17-13 overall. The host Lady Scots fell to 9-11 overall and 1-2 in conference play.

LaGrange stopped a four-game losing streak with a sweep of Spelman in a GSAC doubleheader at the LaGrange College Softball Complex on Wednesday. The Panthers took both games by scores of 9-1 to improve to 6-2 in GSAC play and 14-12 overall. Spelman dropped to 4-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

The Panthers came  from behind to top Colorado College 9-6 and lost 3-1 to Trinity (Texas). The Panthers finished 3-3 in the tournament and are 8-6 on the season.

The Panthers (7-5) lost 4-3 in eight innings to Mississippi and 9-0 to Louisiana. The losses left the Panthers 2-2 in the tournament. Brenau pushed broke a scoreless tie in the 10th inning and held on for a 3-2 win over LaGrange on Sunday at the LaGrange College Softball Complex. The win enabled Brenau (14-1) to complete a sweep of the doubleheader over the Panthers (3-3). The Golden Tigers took the first game 5-1.
