Daniel ranked among NCAA Leaders

April 25, 2007

Sophomore pitcher Amanda Daniel was ranked among the NCAA leaders in wins, strikeouts per game and ERA in the latest national rankings on April 23.

The Yatesville, Ga. native, is 19th in the country in wins (15), 56th in strikeouts per game (6.3) and 55th in ERA (1.85).  She currently leads the GSAC in strikeouts and wins while second in ERA and innings pitched.  She leads the Panthers in every category.

A Biochemistry/ pre-med major, Daniel was named All-Conference for the second-straight year and garnered GSAC Tournament MVP after allowing only one run and striking out 15 batters in three appearances.  She got help from her team as the Panthers outscored their opponents 17-1 for their first GSAC Tournament Championship since 2001.

Daniel has already marked her way into the Panther records, becoming the all-time career leader in shutouts (10), second in strikeouts (243) and fourth in complete games with 31 while holding the singles-season mark in strikeouts (125), shutouts (5) and ERA with a 0.82 average last season as a freshman, ranking her among the top nationally in that category.  She is currently third in wins with 15.

The Panthers, who are in the NCAA Tournament for the first time ever will wait until May 6 to determine where they will play in the Regionals.
