Panthers place three on GSAC All-Conference team April 30, 2008
LaGrange placed three players on the GSAC All-Conference team during ceremonies at the GSAC Championship Tournament last weekend at Piedmont College's Walker Field. The Panthers had two others selected to the GSAC All-Freshman team and five earn GSAC All-Academic honors.
Junior pitcher Amanda Daniel, sophomore outfielder Holly Hazelwood and freshman Katie Hein were selected to the all-conference team. Hein was joined by Erica Robinson on the all-freshman team. Daniel, Leah Flowers, Megan Henry, Kristi Underwood and Kayla Yeargin earned all-academic honors.
Daniel led the team and tied for the GSAC lead with 15 wins. She has a team-leading ERA of 2.18. Daniel led the team or was tied for the lead in 12 pitching categories. She also led or was tied for the lead in six different GSAC pitching categories. Daniel was named the GSAC Championship Tournament MVP after helping the Panthers win their second straight conference title.
Hein led the team with a .368 batting average and with 49 hits. She started all 39 games she played in. Hazelwood was second on the team in batting with a .353 average. She led the team with 25 runs scored and eight stolen bases. Robinson batted .261 with 38 starts this season. She led the infield with a .953 fielding percentage.
