Panthers see successful 2008 season come to an end

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – LaGrange saw its 2008 season end on Friday with a 5-0 loss to Ursinus at the NCAA First Round tournament hosted by Methodist University. The Panthers finished a second straight season at the NCAA tournament and with a final 25-20 record.

Panthers split two games at first day of NCAA tournament

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – LaGrange split two games during the first day of the NCAA First Round tournament at Methodist University's Monarch Field. The fifth-seeded Panthers edged fourth-seeded Emory 2-1 in the day's first game before falling 4-0 to top-seeded and seventh-ranked Lynchburg.

Panthers travel to North Carolina for first round of NCAA tournament

The LaGrange softball team will travel to Fayetteville, N.C. for the first round of the 2008 NCAA Division III Softball Championship. The Panthers (24-18) are seeded fifth in the seven-team regional hosted by Methodist University. The regional will use a double-elimination format.

Panthers capture second straight GSAC title and NCAA bid

DEMOREST, Ga. – LaGrange captured its second straight GSAC Championship Softball Tournament with a dramatic 7-6 win over Piedmont on Monday at Walker Field. The Panthers, now 24-18, also will receive the GSAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III national tournament for the second year in a row.

Panthers place three on GSAC All-Conference team

LaGrange placed three players on the GSAC All-Conference team during ceremonies at the GSAC Championship Tournament last weekend at Piedmont College's Walker Field. The Panthers had two others selected to the GSAC All-Freshman team and five earn GSAC All-Academic honors.

GSAC championship game postponed until Monday

DEMOREST, Ga. - The GSAC championship game between LaGrange and Piedmont for Sunday has been postponed due to weather. The game has been rescheduled for 4 p.m. Monday at Piedmont College's Walker Field. LaGrange, the defending tournament champion, is undefeated in the tournament.

DEMOREST ­ The LaGrange College Panthers are one victory away from a second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III national tournament.
After winning their first two Great South Athletic Conference tournament games on Friday, the Panthers moved to the brink of a championship with a 3-1 victory over the host Piedmont Lions on Saturday.

LaGrange downed Spelman 10-2 and Huntingdon 5-0 during the first day of the GSAC Tournament at Piedmont College's Walker Field. The Panthers face top-seed and tournament host Piedmont on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Panthers close out regular season with loss to Emory

Emory spoiled Senior Day for LaGrange by sweeping a doubleheader by scores of 11-3 and 11-5. The losses dropped the Panthers to 20-18 as they closed out the regular season. The Eagles improved to 27-9 after sweeping the Panthers for the second time this season.

LaGrange downed Centre 9-1 to earn a split of a non-conference doubleheader Saturday the LaGrange College Softball Complex. The visiting Colonels (19-17) blanked the Panthers (20-16) in the first game.

Panthers sweep Wesleyan for second time
April 17, 2008
MACON, Ga. – LaGrange swept Wesleyan on Thursday at Matthews Athletic Center. The Panthers (19-15) won the first game 3-0 and completed the sweep with a 6-0 win in the second game. Amanda Daniel, Megan Henry and Danielle LaDuron combined to hold the Pioneers (4-25) to just 10 hits in the two games.
