Softball Coaching Staff Head Coach Jennifer Claybrook Claybrook begins her fifth season as the Panthers' head coach. She served as an assistant for two years before being named head coach in 2003. In four years, the Panthers are 104-69 under Claybrook.
In 2006, the Panthers were 32-11 under Claybrook. It was the most wins by the Panthers since becoming an NCAA Division III member. The Panthers were second in NCAA Division III with a team earned run average of 0.98. They were also sixth in scoring, averaging 7.49 runs per game. The Panthers ranked nationally in all 11 statistical categories kept by the NCAA, the first LaGrange College athletic team to do so. Claybrook was named the GSAC Coach of the Year for the second time.
The Panthers have produced six United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-Americans, four NCAA South All-Region selections and 19 GSAC All-Conference selections since Claybrook became coach. The Panthers also have three GSAC Player of the Year awards and a GSAC Pitcher of the Year award.
In her first season, Claybrook guided the Panthers to a 25-17 overall record and the Great South Athletic Conference regular season championship. The Panthers were runner-ups in both the Great South Athletic Conference Championship Tournament and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association National Championship Tournament. She was named the GSAC Coach of the Year.
Claybrook has been in the athletic department for nine years, first as a student-athlete and then as an assistant coach. She has served as an assistant coach in volleyball for six years as well as assisting in basketball and softball. During two school years, she was an assistant in volleyball, basketball and softball.
Claybrook was an outstanding athlete for LaGrange playing both softball and basketball. She was a four-time Georgia-Alabama-Carolina all-conference selection in softball and named to the NFCA first team all-region team in 2000. She was a member of the first basketball team when the program was restarted in 1999.
Claybrook was a NFCA Scholar Athlete and a three-time NAIA Academic All-American. She received the school's Eagle Award, while compiling a 3.84 grade point average. Claybrook graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Middle Grades Education and also has earned a master's degree in Middle Grades Education from LaGrange. In addition to her coaching duties, she serves as an advisor for the LaGrange College chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
She is married to Jim Claybrook.
Assistant Coach Roy DeMooney DeMooney begins his first year as assistant coach for the Panthers. He is the proud father of head coach, Jennifer Claybrook. He will be assisting in the development of the outfielders as well as the hitting instructor. Member of the National Youth Sports Coaches Association for 27 years.
DeMooney has won two world championships and ten top-three finishes in both slow and fast-pitch, along with seven former players that went on to play at LaGrange, including his two daughters in his coaching career.
He is married to his wife Irene for 34 years and has five children; Courtney, Jennifer, Clinton, Clayton and Jessica. He has been a small business owner in Atlanta for 31 years.
