Panthers celebrate Senior Night with 4-0 win over Wesleyan
Oct. 24, 2007

LaGrange College closed out its regular season with a 4-0 GSAC win over Wesleyan on Wednesday night at Panther Field. It was Senior Night for the Panthers. The Panthers recognized seniors Stephanie Clark, Stephanie McRae and Noel Winter in pre-game ceremonies.

LaGrange (5-9-1, 4-7-1 GSAC) had season-highs in shots and shots on goal in the game. The Panthers outshot Wesleyan (1-13, 0-10 GSAC) 43-3. Pioneer goalkeeper Emily Epperson faced 26 shots on goal and finished the game with 22 saves.

The Panthers got on the scoreboard in the eighth minute of the game. Akina Omae scored unassisted for a 1-0 lead. It was her fourth goal of the season. McRae got her team-leading ninth goal of the season to extend the Panthers lead to 2-0. Satomi Omae took a pass from Allison Snider and sent a shot past Epperson, as the Panthers took a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Satomi Omae closed out the scoring 13 minutes into the second half with an unassisted goal. The two goals give Omae six on the season.

Wesleyan did not get a shot at the Panther goal until the 68th minute. Panther goalkeeper Jennifer Eby stopped Hillary Jarrett's long shot for her only save of the game. Eby recorded her fifth shutout of the season.

The win moved the Panthers into fourth place in the conference, a point ahead of Piedmont, which lost to Agnes Scott on Wednesday. The Panthers will play either Huntingdon or Piedmont in the first round of the GSAC tournament, which begins Tuesday, Oct. 30.
