The Panthers women's soccer history started back in 1986, but there were no records kept until 1988, when the team finished its first recorded season at 1-5. But the best years of the program were just surfacing as the years 1989-92 was the best four-year record of the program.
That four-year period ended with 25 wins, a second and third best win total in 1991 (8) and 1992 (7), and the best player to come onto LaGrange College, Karen Goodman.
Goodman was among the leaders in the nation for two years (1991-92) in scoring and ended her career as the all-time leader in all offensive category. She was inducted into the LaGrange College Hall of Fame in 2002, which was in its second year of existence. She still holds the points and goals record at LC.
Jeff Geeter has been women's soccer since he arrived on campus in 1990. He has been there with all the growing pains of a new program, trying to gain its identity on campus as a sport and through the highs of individual achievements.
He is the all-time winningest coach in the history of both the men and women's soccer programs. He was out of coaching in the women's program for three seasons before taking over as head coach for his second go-around in 2001.
He would recruit a group of girls that would be the first legit division III players in the school's history. The three seniors that stayed Brittany Threadgill, Katie Rambler and Christina Cafaro, would compile the second best four-year win total (24) in school history. The four year improvement was tied for the second best win improvement in school history as well.
The most successful team was indeed the 2003 team the finished its season as the first-ever women's soccer team that finished the season .500 in the 20 year history of the sport. The nine wins were the most ever, along with a trip to the GSAC semifinals, the only time the Panthers had advanced in the conference tournament. Geeter was named the GSAC Coach of the Year, in a year that was a seven-win improvement from the previous season and was ranked nationally for most improved teams in NCAA Division III.
The women's soccer program is responsible for 16 all-conference performers, four NAIA All-Region players, five USCAA All-Americans and three NAIA All-District players for the Panthers. Since Geeter has took the reigns of the program in 1990, his girls have been just as successful in the classroom. He has coached 12 Academic All-GSAC players and four Academic USCAA All-Americans.
