Cougars complete sweep of LaGrange
October 12, 2006

The Averett University men's soccer team used a two-goal effort from Aaron Rudolf Thursday in a 3-1 victory over the Panthers (1-9) in Danville, Va. on Thursday night.  The win is the second for the Cougars over the Panthers this season.

Averett (3-8) got on the board just 3:04 into the contest, thanks to Bryan Jimenez. Eric Sibrizzi found Jimenez open in front of the net and Jimenez one-timed it past the Lagrange defense for a goal. The Cougars ran the score to 2-0 less than two minutes later on Rudolf's first goal of the match. Once again, Sibrizzi was credited with the assist on the play in the match's sixth minute. Rudolf made it a 3-0 first half deficit in the 15th minute on an unassisted score.

The Panthers got on the scoreboard in the 61st minute.  Senior Kevin Keller, who just joined the team this week, scored his first goal of the season for the Panthers only score of the match.  It was the first goal for the Panthers in exactly a month with the last coming against Huntingdon
on Sept. 12.

Jason Baker made only two saves for the Panthers.  LaGrange will travel to Hampden-Sydney, Va. on Friday to face off against the Hampden-Sydney Tigers, starting at 4 p.m.
