Panthers fall to Tennessee Wesleyan

Tennessee Wesleyan got three goals from Carl Deno to defeat LaGrange College 5-2 on Saturday night at Panther Field. It was the fourth straight loss for the Panthers, now 1-10. The Bulldogs, an NAIA school, upped their record to 3-6-1.

Deno got the Bulldogs on the board in the second minute of the game. He scored off an assist from Cody Fields for the quick 1-0 lead.

The Panthers took less than five minutes to answer the score. Aristote Kamba sent a header into the back of the net off a corner kick from Wes Morton to tie the game. The game remained tied at halftime.

Deno put the Bulldogs ahead to stay 11 minutes into the second half. He scored with an assist from his brother Chris. Carl Deno got his third goal unassisted to put the Bulldogs up 3-1.

The Panthers drew within a goal after Rhett Fordham scored with an assist from Mohammed Sesay in the 83rd minute. But the Bulldogs put the game out of reach with two quick goals in less than three minutes.

Carl Deno fed Derrick Pirtle to make it 4-2 and Fields scored unassisted to close out the scoring.

The Panthers go on the road to play Huntingdon in a GSAC game next Saturday. Game time is 4 p.m.
