Panthers Fall to Piedmont, 9-0 Sept. 19, 2006
The Panthers could not stop Piedmont's high-powered offense, losing to the Lions 9-0 Tuesday in Demorest, Ga. Drew Griffin scored four goals and Jorge Padillo added three more for the Lions.
In front of a capacity crowd, the Panthers did not get the ball on the offensive side of the field for the majority of the game. Piedmont out shot LaGrange 22-5.
The Lions, who improved to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in GSAC play, struck early as Griffin notched the first goal off an assist from George Sandi at the sixth minute. Pradillo scored his three goals in the first half. He scored his first two goals after Griffin's goal on assists from Rob Nix and Josh Seabrook at the 12th and 14th minute. Seabrook, Pradillo and Griffin notched three more goals as the Lions led 6-0 at halftime.
Griffin completed his hat trick one minute into the second half, matching Pradillo in the first half. He scored his fourth goal later in the second half.
Patrick Ratigan notched his first shutout of the season for the Lions, saving four shots. Junior goalkeeper Jason Baker notched 13 saves for the Panthers.
The Panthers drop to 1-3 on the season, 0-2 in conference play. They travel to Americus, Ga. on Friday to face Georgia Southwestern in a non-conference match-up.
