Millsaps pulls away for 3-0 win over Panthers Sept. 16, 2007
Millsaps College broke open a tight game late in the first half and went on to a 3-0 win over LaGrange College at Panther Field on Sunday. The loss kept the Panthers winless on the season at 0-4. The Majors won their second straight game to improve to 2-3.
The Panthers controlled the game for over 35 minutes in the first half. The Majors enjoyed an 8-5 shot advantage in the half, but the Panthers had kept up the offensive pressure. Millsaps goalkeeper Jake Milner turned away three shots by the Panthers to keep the game scoreless.
Millsaps broke the scoreless tie with two goals in less than five minutes. Todd Schneck beat Panther goalkeeper Ben Rollins with an assist from Andres Colocho for the first goal in the 37th minute. Colocho also assisted on the next goal by Drew Dews that put the Majors up 2-0 with under five minutes left in the half.
The Majors finished the scoring 12 minutes into the second half. Brandon Mong took a through ball from Justin Burns and beat Rollins to the right side for a 3-0 lead.
The Panthers were unable to make a serious scoring threat in the second half. The Majors held the Panthers without a shot on goal in the second half. Millsaps outshot the Panthers 17-5 in the game. Rollins finished with six saves.
The Panthers host GSAC foe Huntingdon on Tuesday. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
