Maryville downs Panthers 3-0 in GSAC game

Maryville College built a 2-0 halftime lead and went on to a 3-0 win over LaGrange College on Saturday in a GSAC game. The FIghting Scots upped their record to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in GSAC play. The Panthers fell to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Jason Bowman scored Maryville's first goal in the 27th minute of the first half. Panther goalkeeper Ben Rollins stopped Zak Peterson's shot, only to have Bowman stick in the rebound to put the Fighting Scots up 1-0. Peterson, with an assist from Ben Lawson, beat Rollins 10 minutes later to make it 2-0.

Maryville got an insurance goal from Ryan Radcliffe in the second half. He scored on a rebound after Evan Giordano's shot had been stopped.

The Fighting Scots enjoyed a 27-5 shot advantage. Bryan Walker and Chris Penn combined for the shutout without having to make a save. Rollins finished with 12 saves for the Panthers.

The Panthers host Emmanuel College on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
