Panthers close out regular season with 4-0 loss to Maryville Oct. 25, 2007
MARYVILLE, Tenn. LaGrange College finished its regular season with a 4-0 loss to Maryville College on Thursday night. The Panthers are 3-12 overall and 1-5 in GSAC play. The Fighting Scots (10-5-1, 5-1 GSAC) clinched the top seed for the GSAC tournament next weekend.
Maryville outshot LaGrange 39-2 in the game. Panther goalkeeper Ben Rollins had a season-high 19 saves in the game. Bryan Walker and Chris Penn combined for the shutout for the Scots.
The Scots led 2-0 at halftime. Evan Giordano scored unassisted in the 18th minute. Jack Sowell, with an assist from Ryan Radcliffe, got the second goal of the half in the 30th minute. Maryville added second half goals from Lee Ross and Royal Moore for the 4-0 final score.
The Panthers will face either Maryville or Piedmont in the semifinals of the GSAC tournament next Friday at Piedmont College.
