Panthers shutout by Maryville, 4-0

MARYVILLE, Tenn.- The LaGrange College men's soccer team was shut out 4-0 by GSAC leader Maryville College on Sunday.
On senior day for the Scots, all four seniors played a huge role in shutting out the Panthers, as they improved to 12-4 overall and 5-0 in conference play. The Panthers fell to 1-12 overall and 1-8 in conference play.
Michael Momany was the first to tally a goal with an assist from G.T. Podgorski with only two minutes gone in the first half. It was the only goal in the first half, as the Panthers showed great determination highlighted by an intense defense.
The second half started the same way with Momany scoring his second goal of the day off of an assist from Zak Petersen two minutes into the second half. The Panthers helped the Scots' cause by heading a ball into their own net to make it 3-0.
Robert Hudson found Jason Bowman off a corner kick in the closing minute for the 4-0 final score. Jarred Cooper collected the shutout by saving three tough shots from the Panthers. Jason Baker finished with six saves for the Panthers. The Panthers were out shot 18-6 in the match.
Next up for the Panthers is their home and regular season final against Piedmont College on Tuesday, October 24. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
